Calling all choral and instrumental musicians who
have completed grades 6-12
06/21/2008 -- Camp
cancelled due to lack of registrations
About the Camp
Music and Arts Camp, sponsored by the
Baltimore-Washington
Conference of the United Methodist Church, was started in 1974 as a Youth
Choir Retreat and is presently in its 35th season. This unique experience for
youth who have completed grades 6-12 offers instruction in choral music and the
other arts which may be used to enhance worship. This year's camp will be held
at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland.
Goal of the Camp
The Goal of the Camp is to provide fun and fellowship, while
better equipping students to become leaders in their home churches. Our daily
schedule, while rewarding, is quite strenuous. It includes two 90-minute
singing choir rehearsals, a morning worship service, four hours of elective
classes, and an hour or so of recreation and free time. Evening activities
include a special concert, a dance, and the always surprising talent show. We
conclude our week on Saturday morning with a festival service (open to the
public) which allows participants to demonstrate many of the skills they have
developed during the week.
Camp Fee
Camp Fee is $425 and includes room and board, accident and health
insurance, and music packet. A discount of $25 will be applied for
registrations received by May 15, 2008. Checks should be made payable to
Baltimore-Washington Conference, UMC.
