Calling all choral and instrumental musicians who
have completed grades 6-12
Possible electives fall into the follow categories.
Check with the registrar as to course availability.
Dramatic Arts
Improvisational Acting
Students will explore the role of improvisation in
acting The class will focus on skills such as body movement, vocal variety,
character development, and scene work. Students will learn to play and perform
theatre games for a final improv show. Ideas for using improv as a ministry
will be explored.
Acting with a Script
This class will focus primarily on putting meaning
behind the text of script, using various techniques in memorization, vocal
variety, character development, script analysis, and moment to moment work.
Students will perform a memorized script at the conclusion of the week.
Students may bring monologues or scripts as additional materials to work.
Liturgical Drama
This class will explore the use of dramatic movement
to express a visual representation of a musical selection. Emphasis will be on
presentation of a song for the final worship service.
Liturgical Dance
Students will use dance to express scripture or music
in worship. Students need shoes and loosefitting clothing appropriate for
dancing and church services.
Clown Ministry
This class will focus on all aspects of using
clowning in the worship service. Students will work on creating a clown
character and use that character in the worship process. Beginning Clown
Ministry is for students who have no experience in clown ministry.
Advanced Clown Ministry is for students who have taken at least one year
of Clown Ministry here at camp or elsewhere.
Puppet Ministry
This class will cover basic manipulation of puppets
and will explore the use of puppets in the worship service. Camper should
bring a puppet, if possible (does not have to be hand-made). |
